LIAISON Stem Cell Banking constitutes a model cord blood bank, specializing in the field of collection, treatment, isolation and cryopreservation of umbilical cord blood stem cells. LIAISON was founded in 2005, as a spin off company of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), from academic members of the AUTH Medical School. The company’s main office is based in the Technological Park of Thessaloniki of the National Centre of Research and Technological Development in Thermi, while the state of the art laboratories and cryopreservation units in the newly created Business Incubator THERMI I, part of what is known as, Thessaloniki’s Innovation Zone.
LIAISON, throughout its process of establishment, was initiated with the sole basis of compliance to the safest and highest standards, so as to ensure the delivery of responsible and quality services. Thus, it has been accredited to ISO9001 by the European accreditation body TUV, and it was one of the first banks accredited to ISO15189 - (specialised for clinical laboratories) by the National Accreditation System (ESYD). By establishing a completely aseptic laboratory (Grade B clean room) and the use of automated and closed procedures, LIAISON complies fully both with the requirements of the EU directive and the FaCT/Netcord International Cord Blood Banking standards.
